Bardolino Superiore DOCG

BARDOLINO CLASSICO SUPERIORE DOCG

On 1st August 2001, Bardolino Superiore was granted D.O.C.G. (Granted and Controlled Origin Denomination) status.
The maximum production of grapes is 9 tons per hectare, with a maximum yeld in wine of 70% (63 hl./ha.).
The wine must mature for at least one year from 1st November of the year of the vintage.

taste profile
Bardolino Superiore DOCG displays a ruby red colour, tending toward garnet with age.
It has a characteristically delicate bouquet and a dry, well-balanced flavour of slightly bitter cherries, sometimes also with a faint taste of oak.
The minimum level of alcohol is 12% vol.
It is a wine that can be kept for a few years in bottle thanks to its full fruit and elegantly firm structure.

food pairings
Among the classic dishes to serve with this wine are: one of Verona's specialities, bollito misto with pearà (mixed meats with a peppery sauce), roasts (particularly duck), braised or stewed meats, and certain game dishes.
Bardolino Superiore DOCG goes splendidly with all mature and most blue cheeses.
Tasting (serving) at room temperature: 17-19 °C.

Peculiar Wines

BARDOLINO CLASSICO "BROI" BARRIQUES ("refined in oak barrels") DOC
Made of the best grapes of Bardolino Superiore with 12,5 alcohol degrees. It is kept in barriques of 200 l during 11 months to refine and become an important wine.
Characteristics: ruby red colour, intense aroma, vanilla flavour.
Great with red meats and game.
To be uncorked 30 minutes before consumption and served at an optimum temperature of 18-19 °C.

GARDA CORTESE DOC REFINED IN BARRIQUES ("oak barrels")
This peculiar white wine is obtained, after an accurate selection of grapes Cortese of the farm, by means of a slow fermentation. Six months are necessary for refining in barriques, pale yellow colour, 12.5 alcoholic degrees.
To be served with fine goods and lightly strong cheese.
Excellent served at a temperature between 12° and 14°C.

SPARKLING LONARDI ROSE' CLASSICO DOC - CLASSIC METHOD
The sparkling base is obtained with the traditional system and after 3 months it is bottled and referments for two years at a controlled temperature.
To be enjoyed at a temperature of 7-8°C.

Red Wines

BARDOLINO CLASSICO NOVELLO DOC
Produced in limited number of bottles, it is the first wine of the year to come out from the three grapes of Bardolino.
Obtained by the natural system of fermentation of a great “Novello” wine.
Ruby red colour, perfumed, fruity (raspberry and banana).
Wine to be enjoyed with friends and during meal, to be served at a temperature between of 15° and 16°C.
BARDOLINO ROSE' CLASSICO DOC
Wine made of grapes Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara carefully selected, rosa colour obtained with limited maceration of the skins. Wine having a shining rosa colour, sapid flavour sometimes lightly sparkling, light to be digested, perfect for each meal.
It is suggested to be served between 8° and 10°C.
BARDOLINO CLASSICO DOC
Made of grapes Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara through the traditional system of fermentation in red.
Characteristics of this wine: ruby red colour, vinous with delicate strawberry aroma, dry flavour, creamy, light to be digested, suggested to be drunk during the meal.
Excellent to be served at a temperature of 14-15°C.
BARDOLINO CLASSICO "BROI" DOC
Made of the three types of grapes of Bardolino with a yield per hectare limited to 8000 kg and late vintage. Ruby red colour, intense aroma, 12 alcoholic degrees.
Ideal with grilled meats at a temperature between 16° and 18°C.

White Wines

GARDA CORTESE DOC
White wine obtained from grapes Cortese through a “soft” pressing and controlled temperature fermentation.
Lightly mellow, bright yellow colour. Intense perfume, 12 alcoholic degrees.
To be served at a temperature of 8°C. Excellent as an aperitif, with courses of sea fish and dessert.
GARDA GARGANEGA DOC
White wine obtained from grapes Garganega.
Delicate, intense perfume, 11,5 alcoholic degrees.
To be served at a temperature of 8°C. Excellent with courses of fresh water fish.
POLSA’ ("RESTED")
Sweet wine obtained from specially selected white grapes.
The production of each plant is limited to 1,9 kg, late vintage. Grapes are left to rest till withering.
Excellent sweet wine for dessert, easy, pale yellow colour, fruity perfume.
To be served at a temperature between 6° and 8° C.

Sparkling Wines

WHITE SPARKLING COSTADORO BRUT - CHARMAT METHOD
Obtained from soft pressing of white grapes.
Agreeable wine, excellent as aperitif. It is suggested to drink it at a temperature of 5°-6°C.
SPUMANTE ROSE' CLASSICO DOC - METODO CHARMAT
Produced from Bardolino grapes.
Rose coloured sparkling wine fruity aroma, agreeable, harmonious.
To be served between 6° and 7° C. Excellent as aperitif.
SPUMANTE BIANCO LONARDI COSTADORO DEMI SEC - METODO TRADIZIONALE
Produced from fermentation in bottle.
Agreeable, soft, perfumed, fine and persistent perlage.
Excellent with dessert. To be served at a temperature between 5° and 6°C.
SPUMANTE BIANCO LONARDI COSTADORO BRUT - METODO TRADIZIONALE
Produced from selected grapes and soft pressing.
It ferments during two years in bottle; fine and persistent perlage.
